New Zealand eTA processing times are usually very fast. Applicants usually receive their NZeTA within 2-3 working days. Approved ETAs and any updates will be emailed. If 2-3 or more days have passed and you still haven't received the email, you can contact us to request an update. Please check your spam folder before sending a request.

Check your NZeTA status online

NZeTA applicants can check the status of their electronic travel authority by completing a short contact form.

The following information is requested to verify the user's identity:

  • Full Name (as shown on the person's passport)
  • id number
  • across the country
  • Email address

You must indicate that you want to check the status of the request you submitted. You are also advised to provide your NZeTA reference number. When you submit your request, a member of our customer service team will get back to you within 72 hours with updated information about your application.

How do I find my NZeTA reference number?

It is also recommended that you provide a New Zealand eTA reference number. This makes it easier to find apps. Travelers can find their NZeTA reference number in the confirmation email they receive after submitting their application.

Pending or approved NZeTA status

Once this information has been verified, details of their current NZeTA application status will be emailed, which may be listed as 'approved' or 'pending'. "Pending" means the traveller’s application is still being processed and details are being verified. The 'Pending' status rarely lasts longer than 72 hours as most NZeTA applications are processed within this time.
